We have everything you need for a wonderful pottery painting party experience - a children’s party idea providing creative fun and a lasting memento for each child to take home.

Decopatch

Decopatch is a funky papercraft that's amazingly simple to use, a modern twist on the traditional decoupage. All you need is the paper, the object that you're going to cover and the special glue to stick it on your chosen object (animals, boxes, frames, letters and more).

T-shirt painting

Design your very own t-shirt or bag. Choose from a variety of gorgeous colours and patterns to decorate the t-shirt/bag/PE-bag with paints, fabric pens and glitter.
From £10 per child.

Party time is 1.5 hrs. For all parties there is a booking fee of £20.
Minimum 6 children, max 10 (15 on week days). Age 5+.

CHILDREN’S PARTY GUIDELINES

Party Timing
Times available:
Mon-Fri 10.30-5.30
Saturday 10.30-12, 12.30-2, 2.30-4
Sunday – we are open 1 Sunday afternoon a month, please ask for further details.
Please note the start and finish time of your party. We may have parties before and after yours, so timing is very important. Everyone should be in the party room within a few minutes of the start time.

How the Party Works

1. As soon as all of your party guests have arrived, they are seated in the party room. We then present the group with a selection of items they can paint/glue from the price range/pieces you have specified.
2. Once that is done we give simple instructions on what to do for the benefit of any children who have not painted ceramics or done decopatch before – the painting/gluing then begins.
3. Whilst painting our party organiser will be offering advice and comments, keep the children at similar stages so that they will all finish at approximately the same time.
4. If any of the children finish earlier than the majority, we have other activities to occupy them whilst the rest of the party finish.
5. The painting/gluing generally finishes after about 1 hour, we then clear and clean the painting tables so that the party food can be laid out.

Party Bags

1. We have a selection of craft materials/small gifts suitable for party bags in the shop – if you purchase these before-hand we can have them ready for the end of the party in a named party bag for each child, if names are supplied. The average cost for party bag gifts is £1.99.
2. If you wish to put party guests’ finished items into your party bags, this can be done whilst the children are eating. Alternatively, we can put each piece into a paper bag for the children to collect as they leave.
3. If you have chosen the option to glaze and fire ceramic pieces, the items will be ready to be picked up after one week.

Party Plate
If the total party cost is over £90, the birthday boy or girl will receive a free birthday plate. Each child in the party has a thumb painted and prints this on to the edge of a plate. We then write their names and the birthday child’s details in the centre.
This plate is then glazed and fired and will be ready to collect up to 7 days later.
If the total party cost is under £90, this birthday plate is available at £10.

Paints
Paint and Go
Most ceramic items at birthday parties are painted using acrylic paints, meaning they can be taken home after the party. We spray varnish these pieces and wrap, ready to be put in party bags.
This is the most popular option.

Paint and Glaze
If however you´d prefer glazing and firing, which gives a very different look, this is collected approximately 7 days later. There is no extra charge involved in “Paint and Glaze”.

Decopatch
The papier-mache pieces can be either painted with acrylics or colourful decopatch paper can be glued on. Either way the result is striking and the children end up with a lovely product to take with them after the party.

Clothing
If acrylic paint or glue gets onto clothing it may be difficult to remove afterwards. Although we have aprons, please advise on party invitations that children not wear their best party clothes!

Supervision
We require adequate parental supervision in the party room whilst our staff are working with the children – as a guideline one parent for every six children. Other parents are welcome to wait in the coffee shop.

Music
We have a music system available in both party rooms. You are welcome to bring along your own CD’s, although we do have some party CD’s which you are welcome to use.

Costs

1. The cost of a party is £5 per child plus the cost of the item painted, with a deposit of £20 paid on the day of booking.
2. The remainder of the cost is due in full at the end of the party.
3. We accept most major credit and debit cards, also cash and cheques supported by a guarantee card.

Access to Party Room

1. The majority of birthday parties are held in the workshop room at the back of the shop, which has 3 stairs leading up to it.
2. There is no wheelchair access or lift available to this room.
3. It may be possible to host the party in the main shop space, availability dependant. Please ask if you require this space.

Terms and conditions
Parents are requested to book a min of 14 days prior to the party. Deposit of £20 (non-refundable) paid at time of booking. You are welcome to bring your own food (no heating facilities in studio) and drink.
Regrettably, all breakages must be paid for and will be charged at 50% cost. All our pottery paints are non-toxic, non-staining and lead free. The acrylic paints used for the items to take away the same day are non-toxic, but can stain clothing. We will not be liable for any damage to clothing caused by the use of acrylic paints.
Party time is 1.5 hrs. Children must be supervised at all times. There will be at least one member of staff at all times to supervise.

You will find us at 850 Oxford Road, RG30 1EL where we are conveniently located opposite Reading Retail Park (Focus, Currys, Pets World). We have free parking behind the shop.
